Based in Los Angeles, Makers Strategies was founded by hard-working millennial women who realized the current system was no longer working for us and our communities. So, we decided to do something about it.

Our Team

Kendra founded Makers Strategies in 2020 with partner Charlotte Milner-Barry and has over a decade of experience in fundraising and political consulting for campaigns, non-profit organizations, and strategic philanthropy.

Kendra formerly served as Chief of Staff at a boutique public affairs consulting firm where she specialized in government relations, public affairs, and fundraising consulting. Her clients included high-net worth individuals in the entertainment industry, foundations, non-profit organizations, and Fortune 500 corporations.

Previously, she served as a Senior Political Accounts Supervisor at Kaufman Legal Group, a premier compliance law firm where she managed the treasury and campaign finance for over fifty federal, state and local clients including candidates, elected officials, ballot measures, PACs and unions.

Kendra serves as the Vice President of Finance for the Los Angeles County Young Democrats, and is a board member of the Democratic Party of the San Fernando Valley and San Fernando Valley Young Democrats, a co-founder of Angel City Collective, a LA-based donor collective, and a former Finance Chair for California Women’s List.

Kendra lives in the San Fernando Valley with her husband and daughter.

Kendra Burns-Edel, Founding Partner

Emily has a decade of experience leading strategic partnerships and growth management for organizations and campaigns. She is also a seasoned electoral candidate recruiter and trainer.

Prior to joining Makers, Emily managed West Coast partnerships for political tech firm Civis Analytics’ public sector team. Before that, Emily was the Western Regional Director at DigiDems where she coached Democratic Congressional Campaign technologists nationally in 2020. Emily has also managed outreach strategy for statewide advocacy campaigns, including at Young Invincibles, where she successfully led creation of the first ever Student Mental Health Advisory Board in the US, for the California State University System.

Emily serves on the board of Abundant Housing LA, is a member of the American Association of Political Consultants, a co-founder of Angel City Collective, a LA-based donor collective, and a former Endorsement Chair for California Women’s List.   

Emily lives in Mid City with her husband and daughter.

Emily Getoff, Partner

Emily is a grassroots organizer and campaign staffer. She most recently served as Deputy Campaign Manager for Asm. Sade Elhawary, where she led field operations, supported policy platform development, and built a robust internship program based in South Central Los Angeles. Prior to that, she was a co-lead of Youth4Bass, mobilizing young people across the city to turn out the youth vote in support of Mayor Karen Bass.

Emily graduated from the University of Southern California with degrees in Political Science and Spanish and is now pursuing her Master’s in Public Policy. After working as Campaign Coordinator for Marissa Roy’s City Attorney campaign, she’s excited to bring her organizing and communications experience into the world of fundraising and political consulting at Makers Strategies.

Emily lives in Westchester with her dog, Eleanor.
